Residential Irrigation

We understand that the most important factor to maintain a healthy lush lawn is the necessity for proper watering. Water is a precious commodity and the benefits of irrigation are in its conservation. Applying the right amount of water in the right places at the right time is vital to your landscape’s existence. We specialize in design/build irrigation systems for all of your property needs including: residential, commercial, industrial, retail and condominium developments.

We also provide service to all brands of equipment. Annual maintenance is very important and recommended to water efficiently . We offer openings all season long with a blowout winterizing service in the fall.

Commercial Irrigation

Greenland is very active in the commercial sector working for various General Contractors throughout the province. Our normal course of action is to install when the final grading is complete and before the sod is laid. We work hand in hand with the project manager to make sure the plumbing and sleeving work is completed before we land on site. We can price your project based on the Architect’s irrigation plan or we can provide a design build proposal. Please feel free to forward drawings and email us directly to get working on your commercial project !

Brands Of Equipment

Each Manufacturer offers a complete line of timers, valves and sprinkler heads. There are slight differences between the brands and we tend to use Rainbird and Hunter as our main product lines.

Sprinkler Heads

There a two types of sprinkler heads available to the consumer and they are: spray head (above) and rotor head (below).

The sprinkler heads are the most important product since they are the only moving parts. Rotor Heads are often used to cover large turf areas spraying between 25 and 30 feet. Spray Heads are more often used to cover small garden and lawn areas. Spray Heads are more often used to cover gardens and small turf areas.

The Controller

The Controller is the “computer” which operates the watering schedule for the irrigation system. It can be programmed to run odd or even days, by days of the week, or by interval days. The Controller can be installed in your basement or preferably in the garage for easy access. Wifi connections with your hand held remote are new products now available for the controller.

Control Valves

The Control Valve or Solenoid Valve is merely an on-off switch for each sprinkler circuit. The Control Valves are located in the lawn usually inside a green box. The Controller is connected to the Control valve via direct burial wire.

Drip Line and Micro Spray

Drip Line and Micro Spray systems offer another dimension to watering those hard to get at planting beds. Drip Line is great for low pressure systems where water availability is limited.

Pump Systems

Aside from the municipal water connection, water for the irrigation system can also be supplied by a suction pump (as in the above image) . For other submersible pumps and water wells, it is important that the “replenishment rate” for the well be determined before the system in designed. The irrigation system must not exceed the replenishment rate for the well or the pump. The recommended pump size for an irrigation system would be a minimum 3/4 horse and up to a 2 horse pump for a residential lot. We will work with you to determine the proper pump size.
